Test Format

Two Variants in IELTS are:

  • #Academic: To pursue UG, PG, or professional reasons.
  • #General Training: For admission to secondary schools & immigration purposes.


 Listening  4 sections, 40 questions, 30min + 10 min to transfer answers.
 Reading  3 sections, 40 Questions, 60min
 Writing  2 Tasks, 60 min
 Speaking  3 Parts, 11-14min
 Total test time  2 hrs:40min

Speaking will occur on a different day.

Listening and Speaking remains the same for all the testtakers, whereas Reading and Writing alone varies between Academic and General.


IELTS results are reported on a band score of 0-9. The Test Report Form submits the scoreband of each skill/module on nine and in addition, an overall band score which gives overall language ability.

1. How long is an IELTS score valid?

  An IELTS Test Report Form is valid for two years only.

2. How can I register for the IELTS test?

  You can register via official website of IDP or British Council. You must use the credit card to pay your test fee.

3. Can I pay the test fee by cash or cheque?

  No. You can only be able to pay online.

4. How long does it take to arrive at my test score?

  Generally, your results will be posted after 13 days of your test. However, on some occasion it might take longer days than the prescribed.

5. If I take IELTS test twice, which result can I use?

  You can use the one in which you scored the highest, as long as it’s still under validity.

6. Can I take the entire test on the same day?

  No, you cannot. Listening, Reading and Writing takes place on the same day without any break, whereas speaking is scheduled on a different day.

7. What’s the special feature of booking the test?

  Your Test Report Form(TRF) will be posted to 4 universities free of cost.
